The ultimate cause of the renaissance was the fall of the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church started to lose it's power when people started to question the authority of the pope.When the answers that were given weren't enough, the suspicion of others was enough for the people of the renaissance movement to search for answers themselves.
