Ephorus of Cyme obserserved a major comet which may be the parent of later sun-grazing comets including the Kreutz sungrazer family.

It is the approximate date of the compsition of the hortatory letter To Demonicus which contains many now-classical observations, including 'If you do wrong, never hope to be undiscovered; if others discover you not, your own conscience will discover you to yourself.'

In Athens, erection of the statue of Irene and Plutus (Peace and Wealth) crafted by Cephisodotus in celebration a victory over the Spartans. Google-search for "Eirene and Ploutos" images, including a modern Greek postage stamp based on the 472BCE statue.

From me you have astronomy, literature/ethics, and fine arts.  I'll leave wars and sieges to others and your own web-surfing.

Ancient Greece was the center of culture and education in ancient times. Carystus, which was a city state in Euboea had previously refused to join the Delian League. The Athenians were angered due to this refusal and they attach the city and put fire to it. In the literary circles, the tragedy "The Persians" ,which is the oldesr surviving Greek classical play was produced by Aeschylus.
