UN Security council was established to maintain international peace and security. Its responsibilities include setting up of peacekeeping operations, establishment of international sanctions, and authorization of military actions. According to my knowledge, UN Security council has its peace keeping and military missions all across the world. However, it has failed to maintain a balanced approach in maintaining global peace. It has a biased approach and the members of this council have a two faced approach. The permanent members of this council are the world's largest exporters of military weapons. So how does this council aim to maintain peace when it provides weapons itself. Also, it bombards Afghanistan and Iraq for maintaining peace and eliminating terrorists but it is mum over the Israeli atrocities in Palestine. So it can be said that the UNSC is just a powerful council made up of the superpowers of the world, who are successfully manipulating it according to their needs.
