Simply put in laymans terms, you either live in the ghetto or a nice fancy rich gated community with no in between

For the nation as a whole, some of the dangers of a shrinking middle class are less government revenue and greater spending, fewer middle class people paying taxes, more people needing government help to stay alive and lastly there would be less people spending money on things other than the basics.
