From around 1987 onwards – after becoming the first executive head of state, that was when Mugabe started to lose his initial goals and became the tyrant of Zimbabwe.
Since 1998 Mugabe's policies have drawn out domestic and international criticism. They have been denounced as racist against Zimbabwe's white minority Mugabe has described his critics as "born again colonialists", and both he and his supporters claim that Zimbabwe's problems are the legacy of imperialism.
He intimidates and threatens his opposition and tortures his people into a state of extreme poverty and oppression.
As a result of his doings Zimbabwe is now sadly an extremely oppressed nation.
