The present, and the fourteenth Prime Minister of India is Dr. Manmohan Singh.
This eminent personality was born in the year 1932 in a village in the as yet unpartitioned and undivided Punjab.
He completed his higher education at the University of Cambridge, in the United Kingdom, where he received his Honors Degree in Economics. After this, it was on to Oxford University, where he completed his DPhil in Economics.
It was not until the year 1971 that Dr. Manmohan Singh joined the Government of India as an economic advisor. After this appointment, his career graph grew steadily, until 1991, when he was appointed the Finance minister of India.
Dr. Manmohan Singh is one of the best Prime Ministers that the country has had. He is an individual who maintains a low profile, while at the same time contributing his very best to his country, India.
All Indians are proud of this great man!

The Prime Minister is the most senior minister of a cabinet in the executive branch of government in a parliamentary system. They are usually, but need not always be, a politician. In many systems the Prime Minister selects and can dismiss other members of the cabinet, and allocates posts to members within the Government. In most systems they are the presiding member and chairperson of the cabinet. In a minority of systems, notably in semi-presidential system of government, a prime minister is the official who is appointed to manage the civil service and execute the directives of the President.

DR. MANMOHAN SINGH is the present prime minister of India.
