Well this may be of no interest to you since it is me and you seem to think that I am some extremist but I do love my guns.
I love to hunt deer, pheasant, quail, duck, goose, Elk, mountain lions, arctic wolves, coyotes, and last but not least wild boar.  I also enjoy skeet shooting and going to the firing range to play around with my pistol.  I haven't had the opportunity to actually kill any person yet that is militarily speaking.

Yes, I have killed someone with a gun. It was a Weatherby .308 Special Ops sniper rifle and the place was called VietNam. And it was many more than one. Have I shot anyone since? No. Do I own/use firearms today? Yes. I pistol target shoot. I hunt upland birds using a semi-auto shotgun. Any I still have my Army issue M16 ( a Nam sovenior) ready in a seconds notice in case someone comes into my house in the middle of the night and forgot to ring the doorbell.

Well I will remember to ring first! LOL! And they let you keep your weapon from Nam?

Lets just say that most of us who served brought home momentos of our experience, and sometimes we just forgot to tell them about it. It was quite a common practice then, and still is now.

Target practice at my parents was the usual growing up... I'm a military brat... It was considered normal to own a gun in my family. I have a license to carry and I go to the range to shoot when I fell like it... I have a hunting license as well so it isn't unusual to find Bambi in the freezer.... Growing up on a farm you get use to shooting off buzzards who have over populated your farm, and coyotes are usually unwelcome as well... I keep one in the house just cuz I can... Shoot first ask questions later... I have some old knives, and machetes too, but they are in display cases....

LOL!--- Bambi??? Are you allowed to shoot the babies? A handful of my siblings are law enforcement folk, so they are fine/familiar with firearms--and hunting and so forth-- and usually over Thanksgiving dinner they're all chatting it up about their weapons, the latest weapons, etc. If they're not talking about the latest thumb hold/restraint technique, etc. And trying it out on our mom. LOL. Thanks for your answer-gave it five stars, though we share no experience here.

I use to hunt a lot when I was younger ,deer, bear, quail, pheasant, squirrel, rabbit, duck.Everything that was hunted  was eaten. Was never a trophy hunter.Love to go skeet shooting .The range is ok if ya want to waste your rounds, but I prefer moving targets.Killed a few foxes, wolves and wild dogs to protect our livestock and poultry.Never have shot and killed anyone ,although I have used a pistol and a rifle,38,30.06 to sway some fellas way of thinking at the moment. But  for me there's nothing as thrilling as bow hunting. It varies on how often .more during the fall and winter months. Not much of a collector cause I like to use what I have but I am trying to obtain this 1879 40 cali. Buffalo gun.

I live in England and anything regarding guns is very alien to me -- they are certainly not as celebrated or glorified like they are over in the US. Despite the stricter laws over here, kids can still get their hands on a modified pistol for a couple of hundred pounds or less. They can even loan them for a day. It is disgusting really. It is a real danger if you live in a tough neighbourhood like myself, and I cannot understand the mind set that many Americans have regarding firearms (no offence intended).

Thank you for your answer. 5 stars/ Perhaps others who are firearm enthusiasts from USA will comment to try to explain that mindset. Personally I am not such an enthusiast, though I am strong on the rights for people to make those choices for themselves.

Sasq,
I think it has something to do with it being our right to own a firearm and to defend ourselves. To some it is more about protecting our freedom than it is about the guns themselves. It is the 2nd Amendment in our Constitution and we defend it strongly. There is a saying here - Never trust any government that fears your right to defend yourself - To our way of thinking at least in My opinion throughout history we have seen what has happened to The People when a corrupt force gets Mad ideas (ie: Hitler) Armed citizens might be harder to over run - That leads to another American saying - America was won by God , Guts & Guns. Most gun owners hope never to have to use their gun against a human being.. But should someone threaten the life of us or ours - well.. Then Gun Control means "hitting what you aim at" - I don't know if this perspective helps..I'm sure you'll get many more responses.

Yes! My whole family hunts. Mostly deer , rabbits and squirrel. But I don't kill to just be killing something if we don't eat it lives. The older I get  the softer I think we get.Nature is a beautiful thing. Just to go out and sit and admiral  the wildlife and listen really listen you will feel the serenity I know I do Wouldn't trade those moments for anything

I have seen very young marines killed with guns. I have never killed a human with a gun. Have taken many animals. I have eaten everyone. Except the coyote that killed and ate my cat. When the right to bear arms is against the law, only the government , the criminals will have guns.

Ok "guest". The Q is what you have killed with your gun.... Apparently you would rather offer an opinion on a tangent/number of them. Seems clear you are not a guest at all, but a member with an agenda... Simply not interested.

My husband & I each owned a 22 pistol that we liked to go to the gun range and shoot targets with.  It was about the only thing we competed with each other with.  We sold our guns when we had a baby.  Now 17 yrs later my husband has another gun because He enjoys going with my dad to the shooting range; it gives them something to enjoy together I gues male bonding.  I personally never did and never would kill anything I don't even like fishing because I hate to think of the fish suffocating :shudder:  I have no problems with those that enjoy  hunting; it's just nothing I can do.

Thanks, A-mouse. 5 satrs. I'd just be plain dangerous with a gun. I've practically killed people with an electric mixer accidentally. LOL!

I personally would love to see them all melted down and turned into something useful, like wheelchairs, or playground equipment.

Thank you Amore~~ I think there is someone out there who does not appreciate my points of view...which is ok.....I don't try to push my ideas on anyone. I just give my opinion when asked. Thanks again, you're sweet~~ :o) Besides, I do believe I know who she is...I've been watching. Seems a little bitter to me.

Hunting as a teenager, I killed ground squirrels/ prairie dogs on pastures on a dairy to save the grass for the stock. I have killed mice for target practice and jack rabbits for hunting practice. I have killed deer for food.

Nothing but the target.  Nothing living, just target practicing, but would defend if I had too.  I'm in the country, so that could include wildlife.  Don't expect anything more.
