I guess because people who take advantage of kindness in others are only out for themselves. Also maybe they see being kind as a sign of being a pushover and someone who can be easily manipulated?

It seems that some people just seem to find someone who is kindhearted and use that kindness against them. My ex is a classic example. I'm always as nice as I can be and she uses it to manipulate me and my life. Like the other person said above: some people see kindness as a way to push people's lives around to their ways. It's a total shame that being kind usually leads to being manipulated and used. I will always try to be as kind as I possibly can and not let these few users ruin my life. I guess it's part of some people's nature to try and use others! Such a shame.

Most of the time it's selfishness. Sometimes, the kind people don't even realize they're being taken advantage of! Then again, I guess that's part of being taken advantage of...I heard somewhere it's a proven fact that if you ask somebody to do you a favor, they like you more.

So the more the selfish person asks for stuff, the more likely the kind person will oblige. A selfish person may not be malicious in the beginning. They may just need something simple (out of innocence.) But they may realize that person does favors for everybody and doesn't seem to mind, so they might get the idea that they can ask for things more and more until the point when the person is taken advantage of a lot...Nice people, (people tell me I'm nice, so I'm going by me as well as others I know) can also be gullible.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...Nice people are willing, and well...nice!
