It's beneficial as it gives a feminine perspective on issues which can vary greatly from the views of men. Women tend to also consider issues in more depth than men therefore it may improve decision making.
On the other hand the disadvantages are that women tend to be more indecisive and slow in their decisions and of course they have less time to devote to the job due to family commitments, eg raising children.
