I think if someone is really depressed and sad .. It certainly can affect their health and well being. Mind is very closely connected to body.

Yes it is possible, extreme stress that causes a failure within the heart muscles, heart arteries get blocked and closed due the shock and the person who experience the broken heart might also find heart attack which is similar to the heart broken syndrome.
