Could dementia be affecting Her Majesty? I don't recall it was such a great idea the last time. Would it not only result in some other hand in our pockets, but to live under foreign rule and completely renounce everything our forebearers fought and died for?

In the most unequivocal possible terms: No thanks, Liz, we didn't come this far only to hand it all back.

Did all of you believe that story??? It was "news satire" written by Andy Borowitz.  He also wrote a story about "new evidence that Hillary killed Lincoln"  Did you believe that story too?? LOL

Korvo, I went to the story about Hillary's role in the assassination of Lincoln...you find that "the evidence came mainly in the form of e-mails..."

Why would you worry? Most of your businesses, much of your politics are run by the English anyway. The Crown Estates own great swathes of the mid West. Most of your finances are run by the Brits and much of your actual capital resides in the City of London.

Of course, we didn't take over your manufacturing. You gave that away to first Japan, then Taiwan and South Korea. Latterly, of course China.

The US is still a great country with the most hospitable people in the world and a lot to be proud of.

A little satirical humour (sp?) about the Brits taking over every time you have a "little local difficulty" is to be expected.

That's the senility talking right there.

England does seem to be much more peaceful in everything compared to America...

Maybe she doesn't want to deal with either or future America's presidential candidates, in that case maybe she has a good idea.

Dear Virginia, Thank you, but that speach is not from the Queen, its satire written by Andy Borowitz. Please post it under your answer/comment for all to see it.

She better stays off of our land. Our fathers did not stand to see such a day to return. Our people did not die to be owned by Brits again. We did not suffer for years to invite those greedy pales to walk on our land again.

I hope all this ups and downs and disappointments in our election wasn't planned to end with this. That's almost impossible but yet scary to look into!

She is finding the most suitable time to use American's dislike over this election to take advantage! Hope we act smart on this one!

Where we going ? Brits advising us to let them takeover! Russians offer justice observation over the poll. We only need to wait for China, North Korea and Iran to find the party completed. I can smell a mess from every corner!

I've not heard a bout this? Where did this come from? That would mean no second amendment.

It just goes to prove that America politics do not effect or affect just our country. It is of world interest. However, it is OUR politics and no other country or political/religious state should have a hand in it.

Those of you voting for one of the two major party clowns need to seriously look at the third party candidates. Those two have the whole  world worried.

Her Majesty's suggestion is that we all write in her name on the ballot in our upcoming presidential election...making the transition back to British rule as smooth as possible...well that sounds like a good idea...maybe I will do it...(oh, wait...what she actually said about the transition was "a minimum of bother.")

;)

Here you go, Jann's request...the link to this "important breaking news."

http://www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/queen-offers-to-restore-british-rule-over-united-states

“This two-hundred-and-forty-year experiment in self-rule began with the best of intentions, but I think we can all agree that it didn’t end well,” she said.

Icon for Andy Borowitz, the author!

I'm not even happy about her being the Australian head of state. Still, considering the Trump/Clinton kerfuffle you can't blame her for making a bid.

Ya gotta love the old lady. I just read the entire speech and it fair broke me up. I didn't know she had a sense of humour. Nor did I know she wrote under the pen name of Andy Borowitz.

Rule Brittania.

Rooser: It was very well done. I loved the bit about skipping Charles and going straight to the kids. :)

And Virginia: I was also taken by that icon when I saw it. Remind me a little of my Tall Tales column. It was surprising how many people thought it was real, in spite of published denials.

Dozy, I just read your blog post on luck...in chess.
And I wonder; if someone did do an actual study, would they find that some chess-playing computers are "luckier" than others?

Only in as far as one has a better programmer than another. I guess that would be lucky. :)
