He was our thiird president, governer of Virginia, and of course because he wrote the Declaration of Independnce, which told the British that they wanted to be free!

Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, which is probably the most important document in American history, and without it we would have never been our own country. If we were never our own country, we would have lost the revolutionary war.
