What Does Red And White Mean On The Austria Flag?

The colors on the Austrian flag represent the following:

Austria is a country in Central Europe. It is surrounded by land on all sides. The flag of Austria has three horizontal stripes. The top and the bottom bands are red in colour and the middle band is white. The breadth to length ratio is 2:3. the red colour in the flag signifies bravery and the white colour indicates peace. There is a legend behind the adoption of this particular flag.

During the latter half of the twelfth century, Duke Leopold V of Austria was involved in the Crusades. He was wounded in the battle of the Siege of Acre. Then, he was brought to a safe place. His dress was completely covered in blood. He removed the belt and observed that the cloth under the belt was not stained with blood and was white. Impressed by the pattern on his battle-dress, he adopted it as his flag. The whole combination of red-white-red symbolizes bravery.
