Lent is basically a time of the liturgical year which comes before the Easter. Lent is forty days long and prepares the believer for the annual commemoration.  This tradition is celebrated in the memory of the time that Jesus spent in the desert before his public ministry started.

Patience, prayers, alms giving and self-denial are the main requirements during Lent. Lent is celebrated by fasting from food and also evil acts. It is a celebration of grief that ends with the actual celebration of Easter.
