The current flag of India was adopted on 22 July 1947. Actually the flag has been adopted from the flag of the Indian national congress. The width to length ratio of the flag is 2 is to 3. This means that if it is 2 inches wide then it has to be 3 inches wide. At the top there is a deep saffron strip, white in the center and then a deep saffron strip at the bottom as well. Within the white strip, there is a circle called chakra and the diameter of the chakra is three-fourths of the height of the white strip.
