First of all, Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch ,or the Netherlands, as the Dutch East Indies. (Germany held the Northern Section of the Island know as New Guinea)
The Portuguese were the original European Discoverers of Indonesia (around 1512) not the Dutch. But, the Dutch colonized Indonesia in 1603 and held it until 1942.
