The Wright brothers, amazingly, didn't actually win these awards despite their major contribution to modern science, but there are two awards that are named after them.

First of all there is the Master Pilot Award. This prestigious award is provided to pilots who have had 50 years of safe piloting and is known throughout the piloting industry as one of the greatest achievements that a pilot can make - flying for so long and remaining safe throughout their time flying airplanes.

Then there's the Wright Brothers Medal. This medal is incredibly prestigious and is as well known as the Master Pilot Award. This medal is provided to people who have made an amazing and notable contribution to the field of piloting.

People who have contributed to science, development, engineering and design or the operation of both space and air vehicles. It's an incredibly prestigious award, which is understandable. After all, the Wright Brothers have gone down in scientific history and will forever be known as the masters of flight. The awards named after them are perfectly suited.

  • The Wright Brothers Medal
The Wright Brothers Medal was conceived in 1924. The idea was thought up by the Dayton Section of the SAE. The medal actually came into place in 1927 and has since been a recognizable medal amongst pilots and flying enthusiasts alike. Those who have made contributions, as mentioned earlier on, are presented with this medal.

  • Wright brothers
The medal is presented in the United States and is designed to honor both Orville and Wilbur Wright. These two brothers were the first people ever to build a heavier-than-air craft that could fly. They are the inventors of the airplane and without their innovation, who knows where the aerospace industry would be these days.
