Martin Luther came to the full realization of his immensely liberating theological message: Salvation is free, and one does not have to do anything, much less pay anything, to obtain it. Luther was outraged by the sale of indulgences and claims made for them.

Romans 3:24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

1 Corinthians 6:11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Titus 3:7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
