It can be possible that people from 3rd world countries who don't spoil themselves with unnecessary things are more content with life. Sometimes the more you know about something the more it bothers you and sometimes the more you have the more you want. In societies where money and social status "talk" people can easily get caught in a web of self-destruction and frustration. I've seen a lot of people who have not yet been "corrupted" by all the shindigs of today's society be a lot happier than those who have grown up and live in the midst of all this technological and economical turmoil.
