According to Shelter, the UK leading homelessness charity, there are three main reasons given when individuals become homeless.
The first is family breakdown, when a relationship becomes so strained that they cannot be around each other any more, the street feels like a more favourable option. Many people also leave violent relationships and live on the street. For many it is a way to escape a negative situation.
