Stalin was the most vicious dictator of the 20th century. He even surpassed Hitler with all the murders of his own people. He not only gave communism a bad reputation, he gave his entire ruling class a bad reputation. Any resemblance between Lenin's and Marx's communism and Stalin's communism is  purely an illusion. Stalin was a human monster.

Anyone who was in any way a threat to Stalin was killed. Bad thing was, that even after Stalin died, his cronies like Khrushchev and the rest ran the country into the ground.

Very true and Khrushchev forwarded the ongoing tension the Soviet Union and the U.S. of A geek. Even some of Stalin cronies were killed during his regime just look at where most of the old Bolshevik circle ended up. It was like everything at some point was counter revolutionary to him. All I have to say is it's good Gorbachev resolved the issue with Regan. Still though I wonder how things would have gone if Lenin hadn't died so soon after the 1918 civil which in itself was a turning point for communism and even then the cracks started to show.

Personally if want a good read on this time Tsar overthrow I recommend Maxim Gorkys verbatim. He often kept in contact with Lenin but didn't like the way Russia was heading
