It means that the food has been prepared in a way (or in a place) that follows the Jewish religious requirements.

In Hebrew, the word "Kosher" actually means 'fit' or 'proper'. There are certain foods that are restricted according to Kosher tradition, such as pork or rabbit, and there are also guidelines for how and where food should be prepared.
