How is the UK queen different from the US president? Are they the same?

They are very different. The UK's version of the president is the Prime Minister. The Queen has more power than a prime minister/president/the government. She has to approve all laws before the government can pass them and she is the only one who can declare a war.

Also, the Queen is a member of the royal family. The Prime Minister or President is a normal person who is elected by the public.

Though at one time the queen ruled the country, that is no longer so. She is just a figure head at this point. All political decisions are done through the Prime Minister and the House of Parliament. They are similar to our President and Congress.
