Not at all men and women. Have their difference...the french say vive la difference. Meaning it's a good thing but no they are not second class
It really depends on where you're talking about.
There is a VAST difference between how women are treated in (say) America, Japan, and Saudi Arabia.
Where? In the world today I would have to say that Women are treated as second class. In Canada, they get paid equally except when you get to high paying jobs (CEO etc.). A female plumber gets the same wages as a male plumber.. (thank the unions for that)
Sadly, in some countries, they are not even valued as 'high' as that.
-It shouldn't be that way and to my perspective it's not this way by any aspect.
Generally I'd say it should be count as an individuals! Not all men, not all women.
But the most part would be about location!
In Saudi Arabia, Women still can't drive! It's even less than second class i'd say!
But in United States, there's few flaws in treating and the rules around a female, the same topic of payment and involvement, but i wouldn't say that would make women to be considered as a second class citizen.
The situation in America and Europe so much much better! Not even comparable! But it's not great either! Just good!
In some countries the women get a raw deal. I'm for equal rights and equal pay. They they want my mechanic job? They can have it.
In the world today, women are. But it is not the way God intented for women to be treated. We can appreciate this by how God told husband to treat their wives at 1 Peter 3:7, They were to show them honor in order that their prayers may not be hindered
Are they? No. Are they treated that way? In some societies, cultures, and religions, unfortunately yes. Even in the US there are some men who feel they can treat women that way. I as an American woman, do not allow myself to be treated that way.
In America, definitely not. Neither are they second class in Canada. And in most countries where women are being oppressed, so are homosexuals, poor people, and others that some would consider inferior. Really, the only people that are never going to be second class are the rich.
Sadly in most cultures they are second class or less (some Muslim countries give them a status of less then livestock). Even in the US they are averagely paid less then men doing the same job. I have a woman that works for me as a lead, often I see men working for me have a hard time taking directions from her. I had a Sr lead on one project that continuously complained about her, and tried to make it look like she was a problem. Later I found he was a REAL problem, he'll never work on any of my projects again, but she is always welcome.
