Do you feel ashamed to be a citizen of the United States of America with the current situation going on right now with America killing thousands of people directly...or maybe indirectly?

Nope. I fought for this country, did three tours in other countries, and have set my foot on six continents. For all its many flaws, I still hold this to be far and away the greatest nation in the history of the world. Which in some respects is still only akin to being the tallest dwarf.

If anything raises any tinge of shame in my view, it's the reprehensible state of our government, the ever-growing idiocy of the national media, and the confounding misuse of our tax dollars.

Nope ! I fought for this country and for our freedom. I'm not in the least ashamed of the country. I'm ashamed that our so called politicians don't do something about gun control and vetting immigrants. I also blame the idiots who commit these sort of crimes with no thought of other people at all. I'll always love my country, just not some of the people in it.

No. I have never been ashamed of being American and never will be. And what current situation are you talking about where we are killing "thousands"? We have decreased our presence everywhere, and are making targeted drone attacks on terrorist that are not only setting in motion plans to harm us but those in Europe as well. Those same terrorist are attacking people in their own countries if they don't agree with them.

Im actually 17 and I dont try to get involved in drama. Youre absolutely entitled to your opinion, but ive explained why these things bother me and yet people are still going on about it. I am anything but misinformed. I do my research very carefully before I make an opinion. Now, please can we drop this? Although, it seems like im not wanted here anyway, so I guess it doesnt matter.

I've been very proud to be an American for 63 years now. Regardless of where you stand on the issue of immigration, keep in mind that people from all over the world want to get IN to this country.  Gosh, I wonder why?

So....no other country has "killed thousands", directly or indirectly, whatever the H that means. Only the United States has killed these thousands that you refer to.

Hmmmmmmm...I guess terrorism means nothing to you.  I guess no other country has been in a war that has "killed thousands". Perhaps you need to do some research on World History and see where that takes you.

I will never be ashamed to be an American. Perhaps I'm not fond of who's in the White House, or who's running my city, or my state, etc. Here in the United States, I'm free to disagree. But you cannot take away my patriotism because I'm proud to be an American.

Thank you, Tiger. It was hard to formulate an answer because my speech kept wandering in the "R" rated zone!

As an Iranian, I would say why would you be ashamed of your country? During the last 400 years a lot of brave Americans have fought for their rights. For all I know, you should be happy. Not that I would like to be an American. I am also a very proud Iranian. So all I say, we are and should be proud of who we are and try to change the world for best.

I like America and American people but just as much as they are proud of their nation (and I believe they should be), I am also very proud to be an Iranian (and I should be)

It seems you already brainwashed by the news you hear in wherever you came from. But if you wanna bring it to this, for now this is America who losing it's innocent lives in favor of some group of enemies. We've been under attack by our enemies and "We will kill anyone who try to harm our country" no let me speak for myself, "I, I will kill proudly whoever who try to harm my country" i will defend and i will kill to protect my citizens and my land.

But of course if anything terrible happens involved with injustice, i would be ashamed of those unwise people who committing those crimes but i will never ever be ashamed of my country.

"I am proud to be an American, loud and clear i'm proud of being an American, I'm proud of America" and i would die for my country at any second, we all have each other's back and will stand for our country with proud and pride.

I'm proud to be an American where i know i'm at least free, and this freedom wasn't free, we paid the price, we lost blood, we lost lives to bring this country together, to makes it stand as strong as it is. As great as it is. Our men and women fought bravely and strongly to put us together as an independent free nation. There's no shame in that, but love, bravery, respect and honor, we always will love our country endlessly from bottom of our hearts and will always proud to be Americans, we'll always shout our patriotism with proud and pride and will stand strong right beside our country by any condition. Because that's who we are. ♥we are Americans♥
