Beautiful buildings, but horrors and horrific way women and girls are treated. Covered from head to toe, many other terrible mistreatments 😒.

A place I'd like to avoid. Not much of a tourist destination.

No offense, but we welcome Iranians into our borders every single day. I hire Iranians. But to go to Iran as an American citizen I had to hire a babysitter to follow me around to be allowed into the country. We visited before my spouse and I were married and we had to pay for separate hotel rooms. Generally the people were inviting and friendly. The historical sights were great and informative.

But there are a lot of beautiful places in the world that are more welcoming, and I don't see myself back in Iran unless things improve.

There's also no American Embassies there, so if things hit the fan, we'd have to go the Swiss Embassy.

Unfortunately, what you said is true.
But do you think it is easy for an Iranian to go to USA as a tourist? It is almost impossible.
I am sorry for the trouble you faced in my country. I would be more than happy to host you and your husband in our house. Next time you visit, just send me a message. I will take you and your husband to see the amazing place that is Iran.

It's interesting. I've never been there and so only know about it (like most people) from what I have read and what I have been told.

Some years ago, I met a French couple who had crossed Iran as part of a "round world" trip. They remarked about how nice everyone was, and how easy it was to travel. They were careful to avoid talking religion or politics.

On the other hand, Iran probably still executes more people, per head of the population, than any other country with an organised government, and many of the people killed (sometimes in quite barbaric ways) are not guilty of anything that would even get them a custodial sentence in most of the civilised world.

A country of contrasts.

Don't know much about Iran.Β  Interested in learning however.Β  One question, how polluted isΒ  the Caspian sea?Β  I have heard so much about pollution from the Volga river, and from oil spills. Can you safely swim in the Caspian sea?

It's a place I would not want to live, or visit. Not with the current political climate and government that it has. It is a beautiful land, certainly, but I probably won't be able to see it in my lifetime.

It is very sad how little you all know about Iran and still sound very judgmental about Iran. I believe we should not comment on something unless we have at least some information about it. I am an Iranian and I have been a member here for some time. All those who know me would tell you I am not a bad person. Iranians are great people. If you travel to my country, you would see how nice people are. In fact, you would be so amazed by the kindness and hospitality you would receive from the people (ask the people who have traveled to Iran). Iran is also an amazing place. It is much more beautiful than all the places you have ever visited. I don't know how you all talk about Iran only based on the information you have from a very poisoned media. I will post some photos here to show you how beautiful Iran is.

A place called fire and water in Tehran:

The Nature Bridge in Tehran:

Persepolis in Shiraz:

Bistoun in Kermanshah:

Tabriz skyline:

There are millions of amazing places to visit in Iran. If anyone wants more information I would be more than happy to help.

There is a lot more beautiful things in my country. If there is one thing that I am grateful for, is the fact that I was born and raised in Iran. Family means everything to us. Friendships are valued. Unlike what the world thinks about Iran, we respect women a lot more than many so-called democratic countries. It doesn't mean we are happy about the women rights condition in Iran so separate the people and the government of Iran.
I am looking for a way to share the beauty that is Iran with all of my great friends here on blurtit
