Studies show that accidents decrease as you get older- by large, elderly people are far more careful drivers. I'm doing a coursework task on the same subject. Resources are largely conflicting, and mostly biased regarding elderly drivers. Snoop about a bit- there is some good information about, but it takes a bit of searching to get to it.

( MOST PEOPLE THINK THAT OLD PEOPLE DRIVE THE EXACTLY THE SAME AS YOUNG DRIVERS AND OTHER PEOPLE THINK THAT YOUNG PEOPLE DRIVE WORSE THAN OLD PEOPLE SO WHICH 1 IS IT ?)

I think that people over 80 shouldnt be allowed to drive if they have any illness problems or mental problems. But if people over 80 are exactly fine they can drive.
BUT THEY HAVE TO TAKE A DRIVERS TEST AGAIN BECAUSE MOST OF THEM TOOK IT 60 YEARS AGO AND THEY ALSO SHOULD TAKE AN EYE TEST !

If they have good eyesight and good reflex's and are a generally good drivers then why shouldnt they be allowed to drive? Some people would rather be in a car with a 80+ year Old than an 18 year old ....

I think elderly people shouldnt be able to drive as there reactions are poor and are not as good as younger people. Older peoples eye sight gets weaker.

Yes I would say old people are allowed to drive. But if they have any problems with eye site or on medication that can make them go to sleep wouldnt recommend.I would say about 65 up. Hope this helps and have a nice day! =)

Of course.  Its the Vision test at DMV they need to pass.  My Father is an OD, and he says the states vision tests are way too easy

Yes but after a certain age they should be retested and the same goes for younger drivers  to see if driving school is needed.

I think old people should be allowed to drive , unless if the doctor says if that person has ilness problems or mental problems then they shouldnt drive. But if they don't have any problems then they should be able allowed to drive.

I think they should but only if the have a test and doctors and other people have said that they are fit to drive but then again if thats that for elderly people then it should also stand for younger people. This is because anyone can have an accident and can cause one but just because your older then other people doesnt mean that you will cause something like that to happen. Some one of he age of 34 could cause an accident but it doesnt mean that you meant it so yer they should be allowed to dive just as everyone else is.
