Due to the Chicago River, the Chicago city is dived into three zone depending on their geographical nature: north, south and west side. Lake Michigan is on the East side. The point where the three sides intersect is located in down town and is called Point Zero. It is Madison Street which divides north and south addresses at the Michigan Avenue. The State Street, on the other hand, divided the east and the west side of Chicago. Chicago's addresses are not very hard to find once you are familiar with these diversions and centre points. Michigan Avenue itself is a north south street which is also known as the magnificent mile. This street earlier ran along Lake Michigan, but now the shoreline has moved several blocks away.
