The Spanish, Brits and French colonized all over the world to strengthen themselves and introduced Western Culture religion. The passion for cnrtrol and the curioristy of man, when it comes to colonization, goes way back to the 15th Century, following through righ into the 20th Century. And, large parts of Africa and ASia were colonized. Many of these countries, in terms of per capita GDP, from statistics taken in 1995, show the 20 poorest countries are all ex-colonies.
It's a huge subject, and it does not look good on the surface, underneath there was different views of civilsation introduced, education, and exploitation too.
