Birth rate can be defined as the rate at which new members are added to a population. Birth rate is impacted by factors such as nutrition level, fertility rates, abortion attitudes, cultural factors, social values, government policies, value for child labor, and availability of contraceptives.

Death rate can be defined as the rate at which death of members of a population occurs. Death rate is impacted by factors such as nutrition level, healthcare quality, diseases, predation(in case of animals), natural disasters, and wars.

Immigration can be defined as the migration of organisms from outside locations into a population at a given location. For instance, the benefits of a certain region might influence people to leave their region of origin and move into that region, with the expectation of a better life.

Emigration (the opposite of immigration) is the movement of organisms of a population into a new location. For instance, the negative characteristics of a certain region such as unemployment, poverty, wars, and overall poor quality of life might force people to leave it and move into a new region that promises them a better life.
