Yes, Eddie Cochran died in Chippenham. He expired on April 16, 1960, Saturday night, around 11:50 p.m. He died in a traffic accident in a taxi while travelling through Chippenham, Wiltshire, on the A4. He died at a very young age of 21. Songwriter Sharon Sheeley (Cochran's fiancée) and singer Gene Vincent were also in the car at the time of the accident.
