Marbles, dolls, wooden hoops (which they rolled along with a stick), Jacob's ladder (look up a picture if you don't know what it is; you've probably seen one), a version of badminton called "battledore and shuttlecock", leather balls, and YES, they did go fishing with strings and sticks (and bait/hooks, of course). They also played a lot of tag and ran races and such.
