Americas trust in the government has declined since the 60's. Given the Vietnam War and the many untruths that were leveled at the American citizen, along with Richard Nixon and the Watergate scandall and all the other issues of the Government and it's cover-ups, American citizens do not just take what is told them at face value any more, they want the details and the truth!
