Well, people revolt, when they are unsatisfied with social conditions or political regime.
So the advantages are for example improvement of social conditions, revolution leads to new reforms or establishment of a new independent country.
On the other side, during revolution aren't warranted law-abidingness, human rights. Great revolutions are usually associated with mass violence and chaos...
