Not much as changed there except the times. An actual justice system is in place, that wasn't before. Not that it seems to deter crime any. Still shipping ill gotten booty, just by more civilized means. It won't change until port inspections are more thorough and severe penalties are imposed.

It's a combination of drugs and guns-related gang culture that is on the rise in Port of Spain leading to the high numbers of deaths and crimes.The island has become a major trans-shipment point for drug smuggling coming out of South America and bound for Europe and North America.With such a volatile melting point, there will always be shady types attracted to the island looking for some action.
