What changed attitudes about witch hunting in the seventeenth century?

They did not stop hunting witches, it's just not in the textbooks anymore they kept it a secret. The hunters did not want the people to know anymore, of course it took a while but to this day witches are still hunted but its in secret.

They stopped eating moldy bread (which was the basis for most of the claims of witchcraft)
