There is considerable difference between Africa and The Philippines. To begin with, Africa is a continent, a vast land mass containing many different nations, while The Philippines is a separate nation state in the continent of Asia. Did you mean the time difference between the two? If so, then we can also cover that here.

The 54 nations of Africa have a combined total population of roughly 1.1 billion people spread across 11.7 million square miles of land. The Philippines, a group of over 7000 islands in south east Asia, has a population of around 100 million. They also exist in different time zones, so the time in Africa and The Philippines would not be the same.

The Time Difference Between Africa and The Philippines Can Vary

As Africa is so large, it is spread over more than one time zone. The bulk of the central African land mass is spread over four time zones, with the islands of The Seychelles (off the east coast of Africa) in a time zone of its own. We'll assume you need to know the time for one of the central land mass states. Meanwhile, if you look at the above map, you will find The Philippines just up a little and within the same time zone as Western Australia.

Say for example the time is 8.00pm in The Philippines. Working along rightwards, we find the western African zone (Somalia, Sudan, etc.) is five time zones along, meaning five hours behind The Philippines; in other words, it would be 3.00pm in these countries. The next zone, including South Africa, is six zones behind The Philippines, meaning six hours ahead, and so it would be 2.00pm here. The next time zone is seven zones from The Philippines, so seven hours behind and therefore, in Algeria for example, the time would be 1.00pm. For the remaining African nations, including Morocco, there is eight hours difference and the time would be 12 noon - as it would also be in the UK, if it was 8.00pm in The Philippines. Here's a short film from NASA explaining more about time zones:
