No, the president is still alive and kicking! At the end of episode seven of season 2 he is shot in the head after exiting his limo on the way to a party to celebrate his birthday.
The shooting is serious and he is rushed into surgery to remove a bullet from his brain, it is touch and go as to whether he is going to make it or not. The scene in the hospital is chaos, Mellie is screaming and Olivia looks as though she's going to pass out.... But, of course, he pulls through in the end.
Meanwhile Vice President Sally Langston takes over the presidency and begins to plan Fitz's funeral (even though he's still alive- wishful thinking!) and Huck has been set up for the shooting and is the FBI's prime suspect.
