It's still a crime isn't it... an id would stop it.

You're wanting to stop an almost nonexistent crime, by committing a monstrously more offensive crime against the entire Constitution. How can you argue for this?

Of course they should. There is no reason and adult in this country not to have an ID. (This country being the US)

Great idea but totally unnecessary in Australia.

Why? It works like this...

When we go to vote we are asked for our name. It is then looked up on a printed copy of the electoral roll. End of ID.

And why does it work?

Because Australians NEVER tell lies.

Your comment "So is unlawfully keeping certain people (you don't like) from voting." who said anything about liking or disliking and what on earth has that got to do with anything? Just curious.

You don't have to admit it to yourself. Perhaps the feeling is still something that's beneath your consciousness anyway. It helps to notice when you're trying to subjugate an entire income bracket though.

Income bracket? That is nonsense. It has nothing to do with "liking" or "disliking"! It has to do with integrity! SMH

Our election system is broken. We all know this. Every election there is too much documented proof of cheating. Some by campaigns, some by radicals, and some by those just trying to create discord. It's practically common sense to have a picture ID to verify yourself when voting.

It's not like an ID is hard to get and most of the nation already has one. I'm quite sure those against the picture ID measure for voting are those profiting off broken electoral system and the cheating that goes on within it.

Not really. Sure, require voters to provide proof of residence, like the parents of little league players are required to provide. But when they require "Photo ID" what they're really asking for is a card that upper class people almost all have, which many from poorer (urban) areas don't have. Photo ID should be something that satisfies requirements, but is not the only thing that satisfies requirements. Duh.

You all can say "Most of us..." and "Gorsh, wasn't hard for ME..." all you want. It won't change the facts. I am right where you are. Having ID (a driver's license in fact) was like a simple step in a process of going from child to adult.

But it's not true for all people.
And if there is one thing this country stands for, it's making sure the odd ones out don't get trampled on. Everyone has rights. The right to vote is one of the most essential. Anything that takes it away, or gums up the process, or puts undue burden on an individual is AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION. So there's really no argument to have here. You're either for every legal adult voting, or you're at odds with our constitution.
Sorry if you think some of your fellow Americans just don't have the card necessary to do what you take so for granted.

You need an id for many things

Few as fundamental as voting.
