Hogmanay. That's New Year's Eve if your not Scots. Why? Because then the silly season is behind me and I can start getting back to normal.

All of them, no one would get a day off work without them.

I like the 4th of July best. It brings back memories of festivals, barbequed pork ribs, cold beer in the middle of Summer & watching fireworks with close friends.

In this order:

Thanksgiving - Not because of the historical significance but because of the family tradition in our home.

Halloween - It is the PERFECT season (for me) and I love going to haunted attractions.

Christmas - Not because of the conventional religious connotations but because of the time spent with family.

The Mass in the Catholic religion is about fellowship and the Eucharist.

For me, Thanksgiving is a celebration that parallels that experience---a time for thanks, acknowledgement, and close fellowship.

My second "first favorite" is Christmas.  That's the beginning of man's redemption and the beginning of everything new. (Unfortunately, I find the search for the perfect gift to be somewhat distracting. Otherwise it is much like Thanksgiving.)

And my third "first favorite" is Easter.  It is the validation of everything that is real in my understanding of life.

Well, I wish I could say Festivis, but in all honesty Halloween.  Fun costumes and parties, candy, usually decent weather, and no lights to put up or trees to kill.  What's not to like?  .

Halloween.

People come to your door that you have never seen,

There dressed in funny costumes, you give them

candy or money, they say thank you and you never

see them again, and everyone is happy.
