An example of assimilation would be if two different cultures living in the same location took on the customs of the other, on the other hand accommodation would mean that they made compromises to keep their individuality but still tolerated the others existence. Good question!

Assimilation is using previously learned knowledge to make sense of incoming information.
Accommodation is making the knowledge base conform to the environment.
