There is a lot of debate over what is the 'national game' of the USA. Everyone thinks their personal favourite game should be declared the national game!
In the UK, there is a debate over whether football, rugby or cricket should be the official national game. Football is perhaps the most popular though! Likewise, in the USA, people can't agree on whether baseball, American football or basketball should be the big national game.
Baseball is sometimes referred to as the 'national pastime' however. Yet, huge crowds turn out for all three sports. Not to mention the fans of other sports like ice hockey, auto racing and soccer (which is the same thing as English football).
David Beckham's recent move to the United States is evidence of his hope that soccer will soon be as popular as the sports of American football, baseball and basketball. Time will only tell!
