There have been 43 Presidents of the United States, dating from the ratification of the United States Constitution in 1789. Normally, a president may serve a maximun of two terms of four years each. The one exception was Franklin D.Roosevelt, who served four terms between 1933 and 1945. George Washington was the first president, holding that office from 1789 until 1797. He was an Independent. Other parties which presidents have belonged to include Federalist, Democratic-Republican, Whig and - as has been the case for the last 150 years or so - either Democrat or Republican. There have been 15 Democrat presidents, including Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. The 18 Republican presidents include Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover, Dwight Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, George H. Bush and his son and current president George W. Bush. Four presidents were assassinated whilst in office - Lincoln, James Garfield, William McKinley and Kennedy.

It is actually 44, Cleveland HAS to be counted twice because his presidential terms did not run consecutively, unlike like Roosevelt who served consecutive terms. :) you get it right!

There have been a total of 43 US presidents till now. The current one Being George W. Bush. The head of the states for US is called the president. The post of the President was created after the authorization of United States Constitution in 1789.

The President serves as the chief decision-making personality for the Government. The second article of the United States Constitution institutes the President as the Commander-in-chief of the armed forces and specifies powers given only to the president.

The President and The Vice-President are there for a term period of four years in the office. The twenty second amendment states that no one can have more then two terms in office (This amendment came into effect from 1951). The contemporary President of United States and his family is protected by the US secret service agencies. All the ex- Presidents and their families were protected by the secret agencies until the President's death. This law was changed in 1997 and the last President to receive life time protection is Bill Clinton.

The question is not very clear. If you are speaking of U.S. Presidents, then the answer is 33 as 11 of the first 12 were not Americans (U.S. Citizens), but British Citizens. Washington, Adams, Jefferson, etc. Were all born as British Citizens and therefore were not natural born citizens (Americans). However, if you are seeking "American" Presidents as a whole, I'm not sure but it will probably be close to 100 plus or minus. Remember, America consists of North America, Central America, and South America, something most people forget.

None since the act of 1871. The you. S. In 1871 became a private corporation, & washington d.c. Became a independent, soverign city state (no longer part of america). It is said that the republic fell in 1871. That probably makes abraham lincoln the last president in what used to be this country.

Are you high? The US a private Corporation? How many shareholders does the US, Inc. Have. We should buy a share then find out who owns the US. So what is the business plan of the US, Inc.? Are we in the biz of make widgets and whatchamacallits? Funny, since I have a masters in Econ that I have never heard of this.We were taught that there are 3 players, firms, households, and govts. You could win a nobel prize in Econ if you could just expose the conspiracy that the US Govt is really an INC.
