I didn't know it was banned. I'm from Georgia and we can still get it at our public library.
It was originally banned because of the sexual content. In the whole version, Anne talks about masturbation. However, it was banned mostly because the book is "far too depressing".
Not to change the subject,but
does anyone know a website
where I could read the whole version
of her diary?

I didn't know it was banned either. But if it was, it might be because of the romantic aspect of the book. Anne falls in love with Peter, and they kiss. It also might be a little inappropriate because it talks about sex.
I heard it was banned because of something to do with the downer of the book. And that it was a diary. And it shouldn't of been published, it wasn't up to who ever wrote the book to make it. It should of been up to anne frank; even tho she died.
Anne frank was a jewish girl.she died when she was 15.she would write in her diary avery day about her life.when she died alone with her ma and sister her diary became into books, plays, and movies.her dad died some years later.how I know because I read the book and did a report on it.
Actually, Anne did intend to have her diary published. While she was in hiding, she would go back to previous entries and comment and change names, etc, in preparation for eventual publishing. (You can read the entry where she decided to publish her diary) After her death, Otto Frank gathered up what he could and published it.
So if people want to ban it in claims that she didn't want people to read it, they obviously know nothing about the book.

I've found two examples of the book being challenged in the US, though haven't yet found an example of it being banned -would you let me know if you do? The reasons given are really crazy - you can find them on this page.
