History is the study of the past, it is the written record of the Human race and including archaeological discoveries about the past era.
Historians and Archaeologists are interested in the recovery about the information of the past in a field where no written records is found, or where the writing of a society is not understood. By reading and understanding the mean of communication to painting, drawings, carvings, and other things, a lot of information can be recovered.
