If there is a theme for your party you decorate accordingly, ie. Birthday, graduation, business, etc......a business party I would use name place cards in the shape of a suit coat with a tux shirt, my center piece would be a book, computer or any other thing related to business, if it is just a party to get together, a formal table setting for each of these ideas, and for decorations of the building would be decorated to conspire with the dinner, and its origin, Japan, China, American southern etc......the best to you
