I believe that Senator McCain was born in 1936 at the Coco Solo Naval Air Station a United States military base in the Panama Canal Zone. In a 1903 treaty, Panama granted the the Panama Canal Zone to the U.S. It was returned to Panamanian control in 1999. So McCain was born in the US not Panama.

While Senator Obama was born, in 1961 I believe, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

I suppose it depends on where you live and who's teaching the history lessons. In Panama, the people from there do not believe that the U.S. ever had any claim to the canal. There are facts; and then there is the truth.

It's not his father that is in question....it is his mother. His father is definitely Kenyan. his mother however, was only 18 when he was born in a US territory (Hawaii). Though she had been in the US for 10 years...5 of those years had to be AFTER the age of 16. Which means for Obama to be a NATURAL born US citizen his mother would have needed to be 21 when Obama was born. There in lies the question of his "natural" born citizenship. If it's isn't a question, why will he (Obama) not release his birth certificate. From what I've heard he won't release his birth certificate so that his citizenship status can indeed be "proved". All of this information was brought forth by his own party (Democrat). I believe it was Hillary's "weapon" against him.

That is true. Unfortunately, at times, governments do things that do not coincide with the desires of the people.

John McCain was born in a US Military installation in the Panama Canal region.  In my opinion if you can't call that a natural born citizen then there are a lot of children out there that aren't.  To me if you're born on a US Military installation, which your parent(s) were assigned to by US Government orders...then to me you're a naturally born US Citizen.  Thanks, Janes

You are right. I suppose I am a bit over-reactive when it comes to Obama having his citizenship questioned when McCain wasn't born in the US. I used to live in Panama City, Panama on that base and I do understand. I just get frustrated by all the false statements made about Obama simply because his father was from Kenya. I have also been on the bases in Hawaii and I assume he also was born on a base, but I don't really know that. I think if it was anyone other than Obama, citizenship would never be questioned.

Yes Barack Husein Obama is born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Since Hawaii is one of the United States of America that would make him a American. Otherwise he could not be a American President .

To my knowledge Obama has still failed to produce proof of birthplace, and whats up with recieving aid for college as an alien. All this anti-conservative venom is a smokescreen.

First off conservatives are not idiots we only want the truth and an American in office! Also why did it take so long to come up with the document, I guess they were allowing the ink to dry. Also if the Chinese gov't can fake an entire gymnast team birth certificates then the U.S. Can come up with one. By the way Mrs. Hillary Clinton (LIBERAL) started the whole "American or not" debate.

According to constitution Obama is an American citizen but there are various proofs which show that he is in fact not. I am referring such a poof which was given by Philip J. Berg, a former deputy attorney General. According to Berg Obama was born in Kenya and his mother merely registered his birth in Hawaii.
