Conspiracy? Nah.

Thanksgiving? How could that be a factor. As far as I know it's only celebrated in the U.S.

But a devious and calculated plan? Oh yeah. Putin is going to use the whole situation in Syria to escalate tensions between Russia and the West. Putting one of his aircraft in a situation where it would attract fire may well have been deliberate.

Perhaps it is my corny sense of humor, but I see a great joke here. Turkey is something that you eat on Thanksgiving day which is also the name of the country that shot down a Russian jet. The joke comes together with the idea that Russia wants to attack, or rather, "hunt," Turkey around the time of Thanksgiving day. Perhaps it is just me, though. Good day my friends.

No, since Turkey attacked first.

IF the Russian plane was in Turkey airspace ... that would be the equivalent of swinging your fist at somebody, nearly missing them - until they decked you.

First of Turkey shot a Russian plane down first and did it two days before Thanksgiving. Secondly, neither Russia nor Turkey celebrate Thanksgiving, It is a North American thing. (Canadians celebrate it in October, US in November.)
