Because they had been treating blacks bad and different way before the 60s' and they thought it was OK no one really said anything or protested, until that time that is why it looks as if it started in the 60s' it is still happening, it's just that it is more on the down low and not so open anymore, why do you think there is so much hatered toward the President, because of his color they just find other ways to show racism, white republicans don't want to work with him to make it look like he is doing nothing, they have said all along to keep the house white, all white people are not racist just as all black people are not dumb nor are they all thugs...the best to you and I suggest you read a lot of black history......
