Stacking blood signs is most often identified with gangs in America. It is a visual or verbal way that gangs show which group they are affiliated with and it has also become a part of popular culture as people who are not part of any gang are often seen using blood signs to look trendy and cool.

Giving a gang sign using your hands is one of the most obvious ways gang members show their affiliation, but there are also other ways such as tattoos and graffiti. Stacking gang signs involves using your hands and fingers to form letters and other signs. Some of the signs are used to indicate that a gang member is merely passing through an area and other signs mean that a member is there to do business.

You can make a gang sign using one or both hands and it is most often used when other forms of identification are not possible. They can also be used to convey very specific information as to what activities are currently taking place in the neighborhood. They can be warnings to other gang members that the police are coming or that another gang is trying to invade their turf.

In the past several years it has become common for many people who have no affiliation at all with a street gang to use gang signs when posing for pictures. Pop culture and music that glorify gang life are one of the primary reasons for this taking place. The fact is, using the wrong gang sign in the wrong place can get you beaten to a pulp or could even get you killed. Never flash a gang sign in a strange place or at someone that you do not know, it could very well land you in a lot of trouble.
